The Wira Test Method achieves rapid results in comparison to other devices such as Soxhlet, whilst achieving similar results. The test is applicable to fibres, card slivers, yarns and similar materials. The apparatus is available with single, double or triple extraction units.
Test Method
A sample of fibre is placed in the funnel. Solvent is added and percolates through the sample, extracting the oil and grease. The extract collects on the aluminium tray and the solvent is evaporated by means of a hot plate.
Calibration
Sample trays are simply weighed before commencing the test.
Options
An optional mini fume-cabinet is available for each model, which completely encloses the instrument and allows fumes to be vented by a fan assisted extraction pipe to a suitable outlet.
