Entry-level fibre fineness measurement in a simple, basic form. The Original Wira Fibre Fineness Meter has gained worldwide popularity and acceptance over many years in quality control laboratories and test rooms.
Calibration
The instrument is pre-calibrated to standard interwoollabs wool samples. Alternatively, it can be calibrated for cotton, cashmere, mohair, fibreglass and many other fibres on request.
Option
Interwoollabs IH Standards for fineness calibration purposes. Order Code: FFM:REF
Test Method
A 2.5g sample of fibres is placed in the sample chamber. Air is drawn through the sample by a vacuum pump supplied with the instrument. A constant pressure difference is set up across the sample as indicated by the level of liquid in a manometer tube. A rotameter type flow meter measures the speed of the airflow. This reading is converted directly to the average fibre diameter using the table supplied with the instrument.
